It's a Bird...follow up

Here is the follow up picture, for those who look at this previous picture and think, "I want to have kids, they look so cute!"

It's a bird, It's plane, It's....?

I worked on the farm this weekend and while I was out Kelli snapped this gem of a pic of Allie and her cousin Braydon. I have no idea what they are looking at, but just look at the young inquiring minds.

Oh to be young.

Brian Regan

A group of us(but not everyone) went to see Brian Regan amidst some bad weather in STL at a place called The Pageant.

Hilarious!, Two Thumbs Up!, My Side Hurts!, I have a taste for Lobster now!, Where did I park my Car!?!?, are what audience's are saying as they leave his show.

I do find the comedy Brian does more impressive then most comics of today because it's all clean humor...not to mention funny. I'll be able to listen/introduce his comedy to my daughter when she is old enough and that is awesome. Sure, he walks around all goofy and at first your unsure how to take him, but he immediately has everyone laughing and keeps it going for the rest of his routine. If you ever get a chance to see Brian Regan...Go, you wont' be disappointed.

Thank you Brian for you humor, or should I say Briannanananananaan.

2001 CRV Dipstick Problems

I have recieved many hits from coast to coast on my blog regarding dipstick problems.

What happened to my wifes CRV was the rod connecting to the Engine block came out with the dipstick upon changing the oil. Speedy Lube or Valvoline guy had a deer in the headlights look, so they were useless.

This happened in Oct 2007 and I have some instructions on how to self repair this for less the $10. Even if you have very little automotive repair experince it's worth reading.

Lunar Eclipse

I might be getting old, or just more interesed in life and sciences or plain and simple curiosity. Whatever the reason, I decided to take pictures of the Lunar Eclipse.

For Lunar buffs you can see that I am late and I missed the total Lunar Eclipse but I had my night school and didn't get home until this point. Any way, enjoy.

Movie...sounds like....

Ok, so I was watching Family Guy, and they did a spoof from a movie or show. I am stumped as to what movie, or show this came from.

The scene breaks down like this: Two guys talking to each other. (Conversation isn't verbatim but a general gist.)

Guy 1: It's not your fault man.
Guy 2: What.
Guy 1: It's not your fault man.
Guy 2: Cut it out man.
Guy 1: It's not your fault man. (More emphatically said.)
Guy 2: I said cut it out.(also more emphatic)
Guy 1: It's not your fault.
Guy 2: I miss her so much. (Breaking down into tears.)

They embrace in a hug.

Ok comment and let me know.

Carpool #7-The tale of Pot

Today I didn’t go to work. I scheduled off previously to take care of homework I needed to get caught up on when I was skiing. However, I slept to Noon because of the same cold that has hit the half the U.S.

I didn’t get as much homework done as I wanted but still picked up Allie even though she would prevent any sound studying once I got home.

[Voting story:]
O
n our way home, I followed a Black Ford Taurus. Two boys were in the front and what made me start paying attention to them was the passenger threw some trash out the window. That instantly makes me mad as I have little patience for littering. As I am watching these two white trash yokels, I see the passenger lean over and pass a one hitter to the driver.

Okay so now they are hippie white trash yokels. They did this for many miles as well as threw more trash. I debated for a while whether I should I have called the cops or leaves these two kids alone. Would you have called the cops? Voting is now OPEN on the Side Bar.

Devils Head Ski Resort - Day 3

We left around 10am and got home at 5:40pm. Our trip back was 7hours with drive time totaling 6hours, considerably less. Allie again slept almost the entire 6hours, bless her heart…again.

All in all this was a great ski trip enjoyed by all and did I mention if you have the opportunity ski at Devils Head.

Special Note: Oh, yeah and then we were able to see the NY Giants beat the Patriots in the Superbowl to foil their "perfect" season even though they were caught cheating. See what that cheating gets you kids! A trip to the Superbowl and a whole lot more revenue, so don't cheat!

But I digress. It was just the icing to a perfect weekend.

Allie and her Uncle Mikey.

Us about to head home in Devils Head Lobby.

Devils Head Ski Resort - Day 2

We got a good jump on the skiing and were able to carve up some fresh tracks. What was really interesting about this trip was the fact we could go off the beaten path and carve fresh trails. This was a main highlight for Kelli’s brothers who at times ended up more cross country skiing the downhill skiing.

Around 10am it started snowing and didn’t stop until 1:30pm. This put an additional 2” of snow on the ground and let me tell you, skiing in the snow is awesome. It just makes the ski trip that much better. We did almost every hill minus the bunny slope and the moguls.

There was nothing bad about this day. Everything was great and all of us had fun.

We had dinner at 10pm again and Kelli’s brothers and I ended up not following through with our intention to party. We were exhausted and for good reason. We did almost 10hours of continuous skiing.

Did I mention if you have a chance go to Devils Head Ski Resort….it rocks!

Devils Head Ski Resort - Day 1

Well, I finally got my wish by having the St. Louis area dumped with snow, 8” – 10” inches to be exact. We hit the open, snowy road at 9a.m. and cruised at 30 – 45 mph until Bloomington where we picked up Kelli’s sister, Meg. The roads were slick and we saw a dozen tractor trailers off the side of the road and just as many cars/trucks. I started to skid twice before putting the Z71 in 4HI mode. No problems to report after that.

[PROMO]: Before I go further I have to say the Garmin GPS I borrowed from my mom is a must if traveling via vehicle. This made travel almost seamless, minus our side task of picking up Meg. However even in this event it recalculated the route and had us back on our way. It is also very accurate when projecting the arrival time, +- 3 minutes. If you don’t have one and travel, get one.

We got to Devils Head at 5:40pm. Our trip there took 8hr 40min of which we traveled 7 hours. Allie slept basically the entire 7 hours, bless her heart. Once we checked we immediately hit the slopes.

[PROMO]: Devils Head is a great place. If you book over the phone you can get your rooms, which include dinner and breakfast tickets as well as lift tickets for your duration. However you must purchase your equipment rental separately once you arrive. We didn’t know this and neither did a lot of the workers so we spent about 20 minutes walking around in our gear, sweating, trying to figure this out.

Skiing felt great! We learned from some of the locals that this was the best skiing it had been all year despite it being rained on early in the week. They were surprised but evidently a snow fall after the rain helped tremendously.

We had dinner at 10pm and her brothers and I decided to not party it up that night so we could get a fresh start tomorrow morning. Ok we were on vacation so we had two pitchers of beer, amongst 5 people though.

67F = 2:30 p.m. temperature when dark clouds rolled in.
47F = 2:50 p.m. temperature when my coworkers stopped watching the wind outside.
30F = 4:30 p.m. temperature when I left work (and snowing..YEAH!!)

Thursday Morning Madness

This morning, I was getting ready to leave for work and Kelli asked if I could finish dressing Allie (5 months old) while she finished getting ready for work. I obliged, and when I was through Allie stated coughing as if she was going to spit up.
I threw a burp cloth over my shoulder and we walked out of her bedroom into the living room when her coughing became increasingly worse. At the moment I was getting the most concerned, she suddenly shot some projectile spit up from her mouth straight over my back and missing the burp cloth altogether! The first think I did next was call for Kelli incase more was to come, however Allie looked at me with her big eyes and just smiled.
I then looked down to see what mess we would need to clean up and found that Allie and shot the spit up straight into her mom’s shoe.

Hooley, Hooley, Hooley!!!

We went to Castletown Geoghegan for Jackie Rose 30th Birthday Party. It was also a celebration because Kelli had turned 30 the week before. As it turned out the Irish X-Iles were playing and did a fantastic job yet again.

The Irish X-Iles continue to gather more and more of a following so our group no longer had the bar to ourselves. We enjoyed the evening and even Kelly T. who had second thoughts of going because of a late evening and work the next day, ended up going.

The evening events are a little sketchy but at one point Jackie, My friend Justin, and I were in a group talking when Justin randomly said “Have you ever squeezed your butt cheeks together so hard you popped your back.”

I thought this was hilarious, because it was a random comment that really doesn’t happen and said “No, but I have squeezed so hard that I pulled a hamstring.”

We laughed again and Jackie who was smiling sheepishly said “Are you guys making fun of me?”

Justin and I laughed again and I said “No, Justin is making things up.”

Justin replied to Jackie “Why should we?”

Jackie said “Well, I had my back to the wall but thought you knew I was doing that.” It wasn’t that exact wording, because I was laughing to hard to remember exact quotes but it was something similar.

Later that night, 2 a.m., Kelli was hammered and needed to pump and dump but couldn’t because she needed AA batteries for the pump. I purchased some from a gas station and when I hopped back in the truck the George’s and Kelli were laughing at me and had my “Learn to Speak Italian” CD blaring.

We then headed to Taco Bell for Melissa and Kelli, then to White Castle for Mike and I. While at White Castle drive thru, Melissa sprayed my cologne in my mouth and I really did feel like the scene from Elf where the Lady asks Buddy if you would like a free sample and he sprays it in is mouth and runs away screaming.

The next morning at 8:15, Kelli woke me up so we could go get Allie from Grandma’s. I asked Kelli how she felt and she didn’t remember the drive home and didn’t feel to bad, but was still a little spiny. Really she was still drunk and the hangover was yet to come. The hangover eventually lasted for 2 days.

Well, that was our wonderful night out without the kid. I can’t wait for the next outing.

Lunch

Lunch time, litterally. A co-worker and I headed out for lunch. We were leaving the Business Park area where we work when I notice a hawk sitting on a power line. Hanging from Hawks claw was a little mouse. That'll make you hungry.

ummm...lunch....

Milk

I like milk. No suprise there if you know me.

However what I don't like about milk is a scenario such as what just happened: I was playing with Allie this evening while she was laying on her back and I kissed her check and felt warm liquid in my mouth. It turned out to be spit up breast milk that happened at exactly the wrong moment. ewww...

What is kind of funny though is that milk was technically in three people that evening...well maybe not funny haha...

USPS vending machines

I love the USPS vending machines. Last year, at the Sand Diego USPS plant I put my money in the vending machine to get some tasty peanut M&M’s in the yellow bag. I entered the lot number and down falls the M&M’s.

However they fall short of entering the bottom of the chute. This was very unfortunate. Fortunately the machine recognized no M&M’s were dispensed and down fell another package. Same thing again, the M&M’s fall and get stuck on top of the M&M’s already stuck. Another set is dispensed and gets stuck. This happens one more time and the weight dislodges the M&M’s and they all fall. 4 for the price of 1.

Today in Phoenix I put in money for a water bottle. The water was dispensed and suddenly the machine gives me back my money. Weird. So then I decided to get a Snicker Bar. I put the money in and the Snicker didn’t fall. The machine didn’t automatically dispense a Snicker however and the machine wouldn’t move. So I pushed the return money and out came my money. Well, I figured I might as well put in the money again and push a Snicker out. I do this and down falls the Snicker that got caught, and then the new Snicker I selected. Wow…2 Snickers and a water bottle for the price of a water bottle.

Phoenix Arizona

Today I, along with a co-worker, left for Phoenix from the sunny shores of St. Louis at 9:40 a.m. STL time. Actually, our flight was delayed by 20 minutes for a passenger that got sick prior to leaving and the stewardesses were trying to find his traveling partner.

This caused us to be late to our connecting flight in Dallas Fort Worth. As we were landing our connecting flight was boarding. As soon as we got off we had to bypass lunch and head straight to our next gate. We boarded which was now 12:25 STL time.

Now we are on our way to Phoenix when the pilot switches on the intercom and informs us there is bad whether in Phoenix and planes in our in a holding pattern. He also mentions we do not have enough gas to do this and we need to land in Tucson to get more fuel.

This delays us by 1hr 20 min. I am now completely famished now as we take off for Phoenix…again. Once we land after the holding pattern…in Phoenix we get in the rental vehicle and head to the hotel. We are now about 2hurs behind schedule and check into the hotel. We were supposed to go to the Post Office but decide we need to eat. It’s 5:45 STL time but we decide to first contact the sales guy we work with and are meeting. He has other plans and informs us that the Post office is dire need of us. We do our job leave and finally eat at Applebee’s 8p.m STL time.

Thank you company for 14.5 hours of work.
